Michaela earned her Bachelors in Clinical Psychology from Edgewood College in Wisconsin, and later pursued a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. Michaela has worked in the behavioral health field since 2017.
Michaela’s mission is to cultivate an environment where healing is not just a buzzword but a reality. Picture it as a judgment-free zone where you’re free to explore, express, and embark on a journey toward the best version of yourself. Michaela believes in the inherent resilience of each individual, and her goal is to create a space where healing is celebrated.
Your journey towards well-being deserves a space that radiates warmth and understanding. Together with our compassionate team, Michaela is devoted to providing personalized care that honors your unique path.
And here’s a little secret: Michaela is a firm believer in the power of meditation and self-care. It’s not just a recommendation she gives; but it’s also her lifestyle. She’s all about finding that zen, whether it’s through a quiet meditation or indulging in some self-care. When I’m not passionately advocating for mental well-being, you’ll find me embracing the chaos and joy of being a mom.

Tank
Mascot
Meet Tank, the 30 year old, 104 pound, wise and gentle soul residing at our mental health facility. Tank is not your typical therapy companion; he’s a remarkable tortoise with a shell full of compassion and a heart that beats at a steady pace, offering solace to those in need.
Tank’s journey to becoming a resident therapy tortoise began when his previous owners reached out searching for a soft place for him to land. His calm demeanor and unhurried approach immediately caught the eye of our staff, and it didn’t take long for them to realize the profound impact Tank could have on the well-being of our residents.
Tank has a way of grounding those around him. His presence is a source of comfort and a reminder to take things one step at a time. Whether he’s basking under the warmth of the sun or leisurely exploring our property, Tank exudes an aura of tranquility that is contagious.
Residents at Onyx can find a unique confidant in Tank. He listens without judgment, and his unassuming nature creates a safe space for emotional expression. Spending time with Tank can be described as a meditative experience, allowing individuals to connect with the present moment and find moments of peace amid life’s challenges.
Some residents may choose to simply observe his unhurried movements, while others find comfort in gently stroking his shell. The therapeutic benefits of interacting with Tank extend
beyond words, offering a non-verbal form of emotional support that complements traditional therapy methods.
In a world that often moves too fast, Tank serves as a reminder to slow down, appreciate the simplicity of the moment, and find solace in the presence of a caring companion. His impact on the emotional well-being of our residents is immeasurable, making Tank an integral part of our mental health support team.
