Mental Health Treatment FAQs

What are the benefits of inpatient mental health treatment?

Choosing an inpatient program to treat mental illness provides numerous benefits including:

  • A controlled and safe environment with 24/7 supervision and monitoring.
  • Removal from an environment that may have been triggering.
  • Access to intensive therapy and medication management, as needed.
  • Structure, routine, and support.
  • Preparation for reintegration into outside life. This may include relapse prevention planning, medication education, and connecting individuals with ongoing outpatient treatment and support groups
How do I know if I need inpatient mental health care?

It is not always obvious that inpatient care is the best option for some struggling with mental illness. Some common signs that this would be the best option include unsuccessful outpatient treatment, an unsafe or unsupportive home environment, lots of external triggers, difficulty managing day-to-day responsibilities, or simply a desire for immersive care.

How can I pay for inpatient mental health treatment?

You may be concerned that a residential mental health treatment program is out of your budget, but there are many different ways to pay for this care. Some options include:

  • Health Insurance (depending on your plan)
  • Payment Plans (Self-pay rates)
  • Private Loans

If you have insurance give us a call to verify your benefits.

How long is an inpatient mental health stay?

There are no set lengths of time for treatment at Onyx Behavioral Health. How long a resident stays depends on how long they are willing to commit to and how they respond to treatment. However, we typically encourage at least 30 days of treatment and for some, they stay may extend beyond 90 days.

Are visitors allowed during residential mental health treatment?

For the safety and privacy of our residents, visitors are not permitted. However, residents can video chat with their loved ones in the presence of a therapist or master level clinician.
